Does it matter what airline I choose?

A main objective of greenranker.com is to let consumers compare similar products and services from an environmental point of view... enabling you the consumer to make a good choice that respects your values and priorities.. such as reducing our impact on global warming. The idea is if companies are compared against each other... and must compete for your business on a tangible, measurable basis of their environmental impact (rather than by who has the best PR and Marketing) that those companies who are leaders environmentally would have a competitive advantage.

ok, so for this to work... a few things need to happen. The environmental impact of a specific product or service or company needs to be quantifyable and measurable... which means the companies involved need to be at least somewhat transparent. Another requirement is that different companies, products, and services actually vary with how they treat the environment.... So back to airlines. Most airlines use either Boeing or Airbus planes. Beyond that is there any difference? Does it matter what airline you choose with respect to the environment? The coming posts will be looking at this issue.
